Maths and Science ConnectionsThis week we continued our explorations with 3-dimensional shapes in engineering by building bridges. We began the week by learning about various 3D shapes, and creating them using clay and skewers. We then explored various ways to strengthen our 3D models using what we learned in bridge design. This gave us a chance to explore further by experimenting with load bearing bridges using recycled paper; we manipulated the paper in various way to learn how to strengthen its capacity to bear more weight. We learned that engineers also grapple with the same problems, and learned about some famous bridges found all around the world.
