Welcome Back To Grade 2.1!After being on vacation for the winter holidays, it was great to be together again. We worked together to complete challenges, go on a scavenger hunt, and create a mural. Second semester is off to a great start! Unit of InquiryThis week we tuned into our new unit of inquiry; Where We Are In Place And Time, and explored our the central idea: The earth below reveals our past. We thought like paleontologists and created an excavation site in the class. Then, we used various tools to dig for fossils buried in clay and ice! It was fun to to learn about so many types of fossils, as we created our own imprints and casts using clay. We can't wait to explore further! Science: Force and MotionThis week we closed our science unit all about force and motion. We created rockets to experiment with friction. Then, we used recycled materials and our engineering skills to create our own catapults. With our catapults, we explored concepts around stored energy and tension. Science is fun!
