Welcome to Grade 2.1! We have had a great few days getting to know each other, exploring the new classroom, making new friends and finding out how things work in Grade 2. It has been wonderful to see how enthusiastic and motivated the children are about their learning and I am excited to work with them all on their learning journeys.
During our first few days we have been talking about how to make our classroom a good learning environment and talked about the 4 Bees; Be Safe, Be Honest, Be Respectful and Be Responsible. The children worked together to think about how this might look in the classroom and made their own bees with their ideas written on the wings to remind them.
We have also spent some time this week looking at the Learner Profile Attributes. The children thought about where they felt they were strongest and recognised attributes that they would like to work on throughout the year. Even I reflected and decided I need to be more of a risk taker at times! We then worked with a new friend and drew around them on the playground. The children then had to find something positive to say about their friend and wrote it inside the chalk drawings. This was a really good activity to get the children to think about looking for positives in each other and to support and encourage each other throughout the year. The class all agreed that the activity made them feel happy and proud that someone had noticed these things about them.
Grade 2.1 are a class of 7 and 8 year old students who attend ISS International School in Singapore. We learn together and play together and enjoy sharing our discoveries with you.
